‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’, which was supposed to star Sushant Singh Rajput, will be revived. Yes, you read that right! Director Sanjay Puran Singh, while talking to a leading daily, has confirmed that he will revive the movie as a tribute to SSR. The ‘Dil Bechara’ actor underwent training at NASA as he was all set to play the role of an astronaut. He left the project in 2018 as it was delayed several times.
‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’ was touted to be Bollywood’s first space film. The movie’s director said that he would not start working on the project immediately as Sushant’s loss has been ’emotionally exhausting’. He added that the ‘Raabta’ actor was very attached to the script.
“The film is not shelved. I hope I will be able to translate on screen what I have visualised in my head and put on paper. That said, I am not reviving it right away as it has not been even a year to Sushant’s passing; his loss has been emotionally exhausting,” Sanjay told told Mid-Day.
Singh also said that people suggested him to turn his ambitious project into a web series but he is keen to retain it as a movie. He further told the daily that he cannot think of a replacement for Sushant Singh Rajput in ‘Chanda Mama Door Ke’. He added that it will be difficult for him to cast another actor in the film.
The makers of the film had also signed Nawazuddin Siddiqui and R Madhavan. It remains to be seen if they will star in the film or not.
Talking about Sushant, the ‘Pavitra Rishta’ actor was found dead at his apartment on June 14, 2020. Three Central agencies including the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau are currently probing his death case.
SSR’s last film, ‘Dil Bechara’, premiered directly on Disney+Hotstar on July 24, 2020. The romantic drama, which is the official adaptation of John Green’s ‘The Fault In Our Stars’, marked the debut of Sanjana Sanghi in a leading role. The Mukesh Chhabra directorial received an amazing response from the audience on the leading OTT platform.
